Step by Step

I recently did a James Dean for my friend Camille. Its prob gonna be the last one I do too because I used a new spray adhesive that was way too sticky and the damn stencil tore in half. Anyway heres a few pics of the process.

So obviously you start out with a blank canvas.

Since you want the background to be a certain color you need to make a stencil to cover where the face is going to be. That way the area of the canvas where the face is will stay white.

This is what it looks like after you spray the background. Once this is done and the paint is dry you can lay the stencil of the face onto the canvas, making sure that it lines up correctly. Then spray it and what you get is the picture below.

Not bad right?

Make sure you spray the back side of each stencil with spray adhesive, that way when you spray it with spray paint you dont get any under spray or leakage.

New stencil completed

I recently did a stencil of my friend Tasha in LA.

Heres the pic I took from her Facebook.

And heres the finished product.

Any thoughts???

Sorry Ryan and Kristen....

I know I still owe you two home made sushi!!! And its gonna happen I promise!!

Check this out tho...

The traditional apprenticeship of a sushi chef can take up to 10 years!! They start by doing all the bitch work for the master chef. Its usually several years before they even get close to touching or cutting fish and up to 3 years just learning how to cook the rice!

Screw that, just go to the store and get the kit for $20, ingredients for around $40 to $50, and find a video on how to do it on youtube and your ready!!

Airport bars are lonely places

Sitting at a bar in the Oakland airport. Guinness calms my nerves.

Diamonds Are Forever

So 2 years ago now, maybe 3, I can't remember, I gave out 10 Diamonds that I had painted to my best friends and family. Each Diamond was painted differently but each had the same meaning behind them. It was basically to signify that persons importance in my life. On the back of the painting I had written out the description of what a diamond was, and what it meant to me. It might sound a little corny but everyone I gave them to were really touched and loved them. The following year I had meant to give out a couple more but It never happened. So this year Im hoping to get them done and delivered. Here are the ones I gave out that year...
